Chelsea have agreed deal for Premier League striker, but Enzo Maresca wants to sign someone else - journalist

It has been no secret that Chelsea are keen on bringing in a new striker to bolster their first team ahead of next season.

It has already been reported that new manager Enzo Maresca was not keen on going into his first campaign as a Premier League boss with only Nicolas Jackson available as an option to feature.

This suggests there is still no real possibility that the Blues go into the next campaign with Armando Broja as an option, with him very much likely to be sold still.

Talk surrounding a new striker has not been quiet, and consisted of a number of targets being brought up as potential options.

One of those has been Jhon Duran, with it believed that he has been on the radar since last January.

Maresca wants different striker to Jhon Duran

Now, journalist Guillermo Arango has taken to Twitter to state that a deal is actually agreed between the two clubs, however Maresca is not convinced by the signing.

He said: “On “standby” the transfer of Jhon Durán to Chelsea. Despite the agreement between clubs, the new coach Enzo Maresca wants a forward with other characteristics and for now the signing of the Colombian who has offers from other clubs (AC Milan, Bologna) is stopped.”

Despite Duran’s lack of experience in the Premier League, he has shown glimpses of a very promising striker in his limited minutes.

It was believed for the majority of last season that they were going to make a big-money striker their number one priority for this summer.

Victor Osimhen was always mentioned as the top target for the club, however the finances involved in that deal seems to have left it to fall by the wayside.

The same may well be the case for Alexander Isak, however the Blues are reportedly in talks with Newcastle United regarding a number of players, and not just the Sweden international.
