How much money Newcastle need to raise to fit in with PSR rules in the next few days - journalist

Newcastle United need to raise money.

Thankfully, it doesn’t look as if either Bruno Guimaraes nor Alexander Isak will be leaving despite that very fact.

Newcastle look set to keep Guimaraes after the release clause in his contract expired, while there is hope Isak will soon sign a new deal at St James’ Park.

That of course is a huge boost for the club, with the idea of either departing so soon into the PIF project a particularly concerning one.

Still, quite what happens with some of the other players in Eddie Howe’s squad remains to be seen.

The club are under pressure to sell players in order to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, which do not allow teams to lose more than £105m over a three-year accounting period.

Now, some insight into where exactly Newcastle stand has emerged.

According to Ben Jacobs on X (formerly Twitter), the club need to raise £30m by the deadline, which comes over the next few days.

The deadline itself was thought to have been on June 30 but Jacobs adds that ‘near miss’ business can still be added shortly after that time.

Who will Newcastle sell in the next few days?

Callum Wilson is believed to be attracting interest from West Ham, though it is the sale of young Yankuba Minteh that appears to be the priority right now.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Newcastle are looking to strike a deal with a potential suitor in the coming days, with the player himself keen on joining another Premier League club.

Perhaps more of the squad could depart too but it does appear as if Minteh’s sale is the priority for Newcastle right now.
