Protests taken out in Kashmir over Hyderpora encounter killings

Protests were taken out at several places in Kashmir against the killings in Hyderpora encounter.

National Conference vice-president and the former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah sought return of bodies to families here. Omar led a sit-in of party leaders at a local park at Sonwar here, a few meters away from his Gupkar residence, against the “government’s denial in handing over bodies of those killed in Hydepora encounter to their families for last rites.”

Peoples Conference also took out a protest in Srinagar over the killings with party’s senior vice president Abdul Gani Vakil demanding the return of mortal remains to families. There were also reports of protests being taken out by lawyers in southern kashmir area of Anantnag.

Earlier government ordered magisterial inquiry by additional district magistrate into the encounter. “A magisterial inquiry by officer of ADM rank has been ordered in Hyderpora encounter,” Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said in a tweet .“Govt will take suitable action as soon as report is submitted in a time-bound manner,” he said.
