The Barrett-Jackson auction is no stranger when it comes to raking in high dollars for charity with the commemorative cars it often sells. In partnership with various automakers, we’ve seen VIN 001 Corvettes, Chevy Camaros, Hummer EVs, Ford Mustangs and more fetch into seven figures with all of the proceeds going to charity. And with 2023 well under way, that process starts all over again with the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction. And this time, the charity vehicles of choice are the 2024 S650 Ford Mustang, and the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV. Both of which will feature 001 vehicle identification numbers.

The Barrett Jackson auto auction starts its tour for 2023 in Scottsdale Arizona January 21 to January 29. The two Vin 001 vehicles are expected to cross the auction block on January 28 however. The GMC Hummer EV SUV (Lot 3002) is the GMC Hummer EV pickup truck’s not-so-little brother. The SUV carries the Ultium platform, and crab walk as seen on the pickup truck but also sports 830 horsepower via its three-motor e4WD propulsion system. All the proceeds from the sale will go directly to Tread Lightly!, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote responsible recreation through stewardship, education and communication.
The sale of the 2024 S650 Ford Mustang (Lot 3004) on the other hand will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, which is currently the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes research. The new owner of the first 2024 Ford Mustang will be able to choose his or her own specifications including an automatic ten-speed transmission, a six-speed manual and 11 different color options. Whatever set-up is chosen, the power source for the Mustang will remain gasoline one last time, using its revised 5.0L Coyote engine to produce a respectable 486 horsepower. If you want to watch these vehicles roll across the auction block, the GMC Hummer EV SUV is slated to appear at 4:30 P.M. MST and the Mustang comes out later, at 7:30 P.M MST.
