Driver dies in head-on crash on N.J. highway, police say

A driver died Wednesday afternoon after he crossed into the opposite lane of an Upper Deerfield highway and crashed head-on into another car, police said.

Dakota Kott, 29, of Upper Deerfield, was driving a 2017 Nissan south on State Highway 77 when he crossed into the northbound lanes and hit a 2016 Nissan, according to a statement from the New Jersey State Police.

Kott died in the crash. The driver of the car he hit suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, investigators said.

It was unclear what caused his car to drift into the other lanes as the crash was still under investigation late Wednesday night.
