Heung-min Son injury news

The Spurs captain returned from the Asian Cup with a dislocated finger after an off-field incident took place in the team hotel.

Son has since been seen wearing a brace to hold two of his fingers together since the incident in January.

The finger injury has certainly not held Son back on the pitch as he has returned an impressive two goals and three assists in his five league appearances.

However, he has now spoken about the injury during his time with his national side and provided fans with some reassurance. He said: “I don’t think you need to write about my finger anymore. It’s not a serious injury that you should be worried about. As my coach told me, ‘A footballer can be missing a finger’.”

“I appreciate your concern, but I feel sorry for you because it’s causing so much confusion and it’s hard for me to see [fans] suffering.”

Ange Postecoglou’s hilarious response on the injury

Even to this day, Son is still seen wearing the brace with two of his fingers heavily strapped during training for South Korea.

Son is not the only Spurs player who is spending time on international duty with a number of others away with their respective nations.

The Spurs captain will come up against Thailand twice for South Korea in their World Cup Qualifiers.

But it is clear his finger issue will not affect his performances on the pitch; which is something Ange Postecoglou has also spoken about.

He said: “It’s a finger. even if he loses it, it won’t really matter. He can still play, he’s fine.”

Considering the changes Spurs have made over the last 12 months with the appointment of Postecoglou and the sale of Harry Kane, Son has faired incredibly well.

The South Korean is outperforming Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, according to Who Scored’s player ratings this season.

But there may be some concerns over his long-term future with just one year remaining on his current deal.

However, it is claimed that both the club and the player are keen to striker a deal with talks expected to now ramp up.
