‘It’s unbelievable’… Gary Neville reacts to what Daniel Levy has done at Tottenham

Gary Neville has admitted he has been left stunned by what Daniel Levy has done at Tottenham Hotspur.

It has been an impressive first season for Ange Postecoglou in the Premier League following his appointment last summer.

Daniel Levy will have played his role in finding the right man to replace Antonio Conte after his sacking last season.

But it is not the appointment of the former Celtic manager which has impressed Neville…

What Gary Neville said about Daniel Levy

The Spurs chairman is one of the most divisive figures in the Premier League.

Opinions on Spurs figure vary and that is no different among Tottenham fans who have had their own run ins with Levy over the years.

Recently, the club announced a controversial six per cent increase to the price of next term’s season tickets – a decision which did not go down well with the fans.

However, Levy has also had a big role in the club’s growth off the pitch with the development of Hotspur Way and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Speaking on The Overlap, the former Manchester United defender admitted he’s seriously impressed by what Levy has done away from the football side of things.

He said: “I said a few years ago and it was criticised at the time. I think he’s the best operator in football because actually if you look at what he’s done off the pitch, there is no one I think apart from Manchester City with that endless cash that they have has developed their stadium/training ground in the way which Tottenham have.

“It’s unbelievable what he’s done. The problem is he’s never really got it right on the football side.”

Will Daniel Levy leave Tottenham?

The 62-year-old has now been involved with the club for over two decades.

In that time, Spurs have only been able to get their hands on the League Cup all the way back in 2008.

However, the club has grown considerably under Levy’s watch which he does deserve a lot of credit for.

But there is, undoubtedly, a feeling that the club have missed numerous opportunities to do so much more on the pitch.

Former Spurs striker Les Ferdinand has recently been speaking about his former employer with Neville and admitted he can’t see Levy walking away any time soon.

He said: “He is so heavily involved in it that people still go to him and I don’t see him putting that mantle down any time soon.”

In recent weeks, there has been an unexpected and – still to this day – unexplained meeting between Levy and the Emirati Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla in N17.

What lies ahead of Spurs is yet to be seen, but it will be interesting to see how far Levy backs Postecoglou on the back of what’s been an impressive season so far.
