£25m Tottenham player admits he could barely walk but he’s fully fit again now

Tottenham Hotspur will now see one of their players return from the international break fully fit.

Spurs went into the final break of the campaign with a few of players suffering from injury issues.

Micky van de Ven was one of the main names who had been sidelined through injury prior to the game against Fulham.

However, it seems there is another name who Ange Postecoglou will have available for selection in the game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

Emerson Royal injury news

Going into the international break, there was no indication that Emerson Royal was suffering with an injury issue.

However, it was claimed during the recent break that the Brazilian had sustained a knee issue.

And it had even been suggested that he had been receiving treatment back in his homeland for the injury.

Ahead of the game on the weekend against Luton, the 25-year-old has been speaking out about his incredible return to fitness.

Speaking to Brazilian media, he said: “I couldn’t take a step, I had no strength, it hurt a lot. A few days after [the treatment] I didn’t feel any more pain, then we did the second application to make the tendon stronger, but I didn’t feel any pain.”

What Emerson Royal said about not being played by Postecoglou

It has been a difficult campaign for the £25m Brazilian who has been playing second fiddle to Pedro Porro.

Ironically, the season could not have gotten off to a better start for Emerson as he started and scored in the opener against Brentford.

Only half of his Premier League appearances (18) have come from the starting XI this season and he hasn’t played in the last two games.

However, he spoke back in November that he would not quit from fighting for the starting spot at right-back.

He said: “I always respect the manager and, as the manager says, I always train hard even if I’m not playing. But I am not a player who accepts being on the bench. I will never accept that in my life.

“I am a player who will always fight to play.”

What will be interesting to see is whether this attitude shifts over the summer if he is to receive interest from other clubs.

It is apparent Emerson is not Postecoglou’s first choice and he has already received interest from Saudi Arabia.

The Spurs News has been told the club are looking for a versatile full-back this summer, which could suggest Spurs are open to selling the Brazilian.
