Spurs reportedly stepping up talks to sign 'complete' £60m forward who 'one of the top ten players in Europe'

Tottenham Hotspur are enjoying a good season, with Ange Postecoglou pulling them up by the scruff of the neck and getting them back on track.

Spurs, who finished eighth in the Premier League table last season, are now fifth in the standings and will fancy their chances of finishing in the top four.

Tottenham were busy during both transfer windows gone past. They invested heavily in summer and were one of the few Premier League teams to be busy in January.

We’re likely to see more reinforcements this summer as Postecoglou looks to fine-tune his squad in order to make Spurs even more competitive.

One player now being linked with Tottenham has been likened to Erling Haaland and Robin van Persie, and has also been deemed “one of the top ten players in Europe”.

Tottenham reportedly pushing to sign ‘complete’ striker likened to Erling Haaland

Earlier this week, CaughtOffside reported that Feyenoord forward Santiago Gimenez is a top target for Spurs ahead of the summer window.

The report claimed that Tottenham are ‘intensifying’ talks to sign the 22-year-old Mexico international, who has been in fine form for his club.

Gimenez has registered an impressive 24 goals and five assists from 35 club outings, plus two goals and one assist for Mexico over the past 12 months.

Football Talent Scout‘s Jacek Kulig has likened the left-footer to Erling Haaland, while Goal.com claimed last year that he is ‘following in the footsteps of (Robin) Van Persie’.

In terms of Gimenez’s style of play, Kulig has deemed him a ‘complete forward’ with pace, athleticism, finishing, heading, instinct and movement among his strength.

And in terms of value, The Guardian claimed earlier this year that Feyenoord are likely to demand around £60million to part company with his services.

According to Morris Pagniello – an agent said to be close to Gimenez’s family – the forward is ‘one of the top ten players in Europe’.

Back in August, speaking to MedioTiempo, he also linked Spurs to the player. It’s good to see those links persist ahead of the summer transfer window.
