Report: Tottenham offer club the chance to buy Spurs player for £59m less than they paid for him

Tottenham Hotspur are enjoying a solid season of transition after Ange Postecoglou cleaned up house right from the start of his tenure.

Spurs finished a lowly eighth last term, stumbling over the finish line without a permanent manager.

Some Tottenham fans dreaded what would follow in the summer and in the upcoming season, but things have actually gone very well.

Postecoglou has proven a revelation at Spurs, quickly turning things round and even turning them into potential dark horses for the title at one point.

Now, with eight games left to play in the league, Tottenham remain firmly in contention for a top-four finish, and the future looks bright for the Lilywhites.

Next summer is likely to see Postecoglou clean house further and getting rid of players that haven’t been up to standard or don’t fit the manager’s style.

Who are Tottenham reportedly looking to offload for £4.3million?

One of these is Tanguy Ndombele, who remains Tottenham’s record signing to this day, but whose career at Spurs hasn’t quite gone to plan.

Tottenham signed the Frenchman for £63million back in 2019, but he has made just 91 appearances for Spurs and has been shipped out on loan three times.

Ndombele is currently at Galatasaray, but he has struggled to make an impact and is having to make do with featuring off the bench.

Now, according to Takvim, Tottenham have offered the Turkish league leaders the chance to sign the 27-year-old for nearly £59million less than what they paid for him.

Galatasaray reportedly have an option to sign Ndombele permanently for €15million (£12.8million), but they’re seemingly unwilling to exercise this right.

With that in mind, Tottenham have allegedly gone to the Turkish giants and said they’re willing to take just €5million (£4.3million).

However, Gala are said to have responded ‘coldly’ to this offer.

TBR View

Ndombele joined Tottenham to much fanfare, but things simply haven’t worked out for him at Spurs.

The Lilywhites don’t seem to be having much luck in moving him on either.

Lyon and Napoli – where he went on loan – didn’t seem interested in signing him permanently, and neither does Gala.

Ndombele’s contract – reportedly worth £200,000-a-week – runs until the summer of 2025.

The way things are going, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Spurs paying for it right until it expires.
