27-year-old Tottenham player says he’s loving life under Ange Postecoglou after Antonio Conte snub

Tottenham Hotspur have now seen one of their players admit he’s loving life under Ange Postecoglou after struggling under Antonio Conte.

Last summer saw Daniel Levy make a number of big changes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium following a disappointing 2022/23 campaign.

Tottenham now find themselves in a much healthier position in the Premier League under Ange Postecoglou.

The Lilywhites are going into this weekend’s game against Newcastle United in fourth spot on the table with Champions League football in their sights.

Not only has the football improved under Postecoglou, but a number of players have been given a fresh lease of life.

But it has also seen some players see their time at Tottenham come to an end with Eric Dier admitting something happened which disappointed him before he left.

However, there is one player who is particularly enjoying his football under Postecoglou after having his issues with Conte.

Postecoglou has 27-year-old player loving football again after Conte snub

The 58-year-old manager has provided some players with an opportunity to revive their career after a difficult campaign last season.

One of those players is Yves Bissouma who really struggled to adapt to life at Spurs with Conte at the helm.

The Mali midfielder has recently been hailed by Postecoglou for his performance in the game last week against West Ham.

Here is a summary of how Bissouma has fared under Postecoglou compared to Conte.

Statistics via Transfermarkt.

Bissouma has been able to nail down more of a regular spot in the starting XI under Postecoglou this season.

There have been some bumps in the road with the midfielder having picked up two red cards and missed a number of game through playing at AFCON.

However, he has said in Sunday’s match day programme that he is now happy again to be playing football under the Australian manager.

For me, personally, when Ange came in, he told me exactly what he wants from me and my role in the team. I’m just listening and working hard to perform in the way he wants me to and I’m really happy to work with him and the group,” he said.

“It’s the way I like to play and it’s always good because it suits my style. l really like to receive the ball, turn and try to find a solution. If it’s not on then I’ll dribble to make space and find a solution. My role is to get the ball and try to find a solution for my team-mates It’s really fun, I’m enjoying this role a lot.”

What Conte said about Bissouma which may still be up for debate

Postecoglou loved what he saw from Bissouma last week against West Ham, but he did also hook him off at half-time against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Going back to September 2022, Conte revealed that he thought the Mali midfielder was not as good as Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

“He needs to work, go totally into the idea of football,” the Italian said in a press conference.

“He’s a step behind Bentancur and Hojbjerg. The same for [Oliver] Skipp working with me all of last season. I’m pleased with what I’ve seen during the game and we’re talking about a player with good skills and who is strong physically with a good engine.”

Given Bentancur and Hojbjerg came on and changed the game on the weekend there may still be some truth to what Conte said almost two years ago.
