Leicester City are back in Championship action this weekend as they welcome play-off hopefuls West Bromwich Albion to the East Midlands.
Having suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Plymouth Argyle on Friday, Enzo Maresca will be desperate to see a reaction from his players.
With Leeds United and Ipswich Town going through a tricky spell of their own, Leicester have been let off the hook and the title is still in their hands.
Three wins from the last four games will be enough to secure automatic promotion back to the Premier League, so it’s a must-win game at King Power Stadium on Saturday.
With that said, here is one tactical change Maresca should make.
Ricardo Pereira should start in midfield v West Bromwich Albion
Ricardo Pereira, who The Foxes signed from Porto for £21m back in 2018, has enjoyed a productive season.
The 30-year-old has often operated as an inverted right-back, though, against West Brom, Maresca should deploy him in midfield.
The reason is, that Hamza Choudhury needs to start at right-back, as he’ll be better equipped to deal with Mikey Johnston, who has been on fire since arriving on loan from Celtic in January.
The ‘dangerous’ jet-heeled left-winger has netted seven times in 15 Championship outings and few full-backs have been able to get the better of him.
So, given Pereira likes to step into midfield from right-back, Maresca should make a slight adjustment and use Choudhury there as a traditional full-back to help keep Johnston quiet.
Leicester City need to build momentum
Having suffered defeat in their last two games, Leicester desperately need to return to winning ways, or else at some point, they’ll drop out of the top two and will be faced by a play-off campaign.
They still remain in the strongest position than anyone, sitting only a point off the summit with a game in hand on league leaders Ipswich Town.
It’ll be a fascinating team selection on the weekend, as fans have long called for Patson Daka to drop out of the side due to his wastefulness.
A telling few weeks await the King Power outfit, who must gain promotion to ease their Profit and Sustainability worries.
