Premier League coach now picks Crystal Palace star as his Player of the Season

As the Premier League season winds down, one coach has picked out a Crystal Palace star to be his Player of the Season.

Throughout this campaign, there have been several Crystal Palace players who have stood out despite the problems which plagued much of the season before Oliver Glasner‘s arrival.

Jean-Philippe Mateta and Joachim Andersen won the club’s own Players’ Player of the Year award, but these weren’t the only two who’ve impressed this season.

Adam Wharton has become a proper superstar in only a matter of months since he made the move from Blackburn.

Meanwhile, the mercurial duo of Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise have both also been incredible this season when they’ve been fit that is.

Now, as the Premier League Player of the Season votes are being made, one coach has suggested his vote belongs to an Eagles star.

Fulham coach Boa Morte says he’d vote for Eberechi Eze as player of the season

On Thursday after the player of the season nominees were announced, Fulham posted a video on their Instagram, asking who the players and staff would vote for.

Most picked names from the existing list which the league has nominated, but the club’s assistant manager Luis Boa Morte has picked a Palace player.

It’s rather surprising to see, but Morte when asking who he’d vote for responded without hesitation, saying, “Eze”.

It’s obviously not a surprise to see Eze in that conversation as he’s a superb player and talent, but rather bizarre considering he hasn’t played enough games at his best level to really warrant the call.

But Morte was convinced, so how do Eze’s stats compare to the likes of other players nominated in his position such as Cole Palmer and Phil Foden?

How does Eze’s season compare with other nominees like Cole Palmer and Phil Foden?

While Eze’s inclusion isn’t something ludicrous to suggest, it is a little overzealous considering he’s not had a season comparable to Palmer or Foden.

We can see this below;

From this comparison table, it’s obvious just how far ahead Palmer and Foden are right now, although they’ve played in sides where they’ve expected to be better.

It will be interesting to revisit this in a year if Eze stays, and Glasner continues having his team play like they are right now.
