Tottenham Hotspur fans react to Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea exit

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left stunned after hearing that Mauricio Pochettino is already leaving his post as Chelsea boss.

Tottenham secured fifth place on Sunday afternoon, beating Sheffield United 3-0 at Bramall Lane.

Spurs simply had to win that game, not just because Sheffield United had already been relegated but also because Chelsea were right on Tottenham’s neck.

Chelsea had found real form towards the end of the season and their final-day win over Bournemouth left them with five wins in a row to end the season.

That catapulted the Blues into contention for fifth place and they were pushing to overtake Tottenham.

Spurs fended off that competition and have now seen Chelsea make a rather bizarre move.

Mauricio Pochettino leaves Chelsea

Chelsea have now decided to part ways with boss Mauricio Pochettino following the end of the Premier League campaign.

The Blues have confirmed that Pochettino’s time is up with the Argentinian leaving Stamford Bridge by mutual consent.

The timing seems truly bizarre; there were many moments over the course of the season where a sacking could have made some sense.

Pochettino now leaving just after stringing together a run of one defeat in the last 15 Premier League games seems odd.

The former Tottenham Hotspur boss now finds himself out of work once again and it looks like we won’t see him managing against Spurs next season.

Tottenham fans on Pochettino exit

Pochettino was heavily linked with a return to Tottenham last summer but Spurs went in another direction by landing Ange Postecoglou.

Seeing Pochettino then join rivals Chelsea was difficult to swallow for many Spurs fans who still held him in high regard years after his 2019 exit.

Pochettino brought new life to Tottenham and even took the club into a Champions League final, so to see him join Chelsea was gutting for many.

Pochettino then went and beat Spurs twice this past season, twisting the knife even more.

Tottenham fans have now been taking to social media to react to Pochettino’s exit, with many believing that he destroyed his legacy at Tottenham just for one year at Chelsea.

Some even feel that Pochettino ‘sold his soul’ and the decision to trade in his Tottenham reputation for a relatively brief stint at Stamford Bridge was a grave error.

Others are actually glad to see Pochettino leave – and not because of any ill-feeling towards him over his Chelsea move.

Those supporters feel that Pochettino really had something going at Chelsea towards the end of the campaign and feared he would bring success to the club next season.

Instead, Pochettino is on his way out and Chelsea must now start again with yet another new manager ahead of next season.
