Report: After hiring Vincent Kompany, Bayern Munich now willing to spend big on Crystal Palace star

Crystal Palace will be expecting interest to arrive this summer for multiple players, but now interest is rising in one player who isn’t on the sale list.

This summer Oliver Glasner will be desperate to retain his star players as he bids to take Crystal Palace to heights previously unseen during his first full season in charge.

Since arriving at Selhurst Park in February, Glasner has revolutionised the club and changed the entire mood and mentality, while also improving performances on the pitch.

This has seen several players be standout performers for the Eagles including the complete reinvention of Jean-Philippe Mateta.

But now as we approach the summer transfer window, Palace could be facing interest in one player who should be considered unsellable this summer.

Bayern Munich showing interest in Adam Wharton

While everyone expected a battle to fend off interest for the likes of Eberechi Eze, Marc Guehi and Michael Olise, Adam Wharton wasn’t a player we were concerned might exit.

However, this has changed with the latest report from The Independent, which suggests that Bayern Munich view Wharton as the solution to their midfield problem.

It explains that Wharton has come out top in a lot of analytics done by Bayern and they are set to advance on their interest.

Wharton therefore could potentially be joining new Bayern boss Vincent Kompany who was confirmed to be making the move from Burnley today.

The report also explains that given Wharton’s participation in the Euros preliminary squad, there is a chance he heads to the tournament in Germany which could see his price tag explode with some strong performances.

Losing Wharton would be a blow for Crystal Palace

Wharton has been an absolute gem in midfield for Palace ever since his introduction after the January transfer window when he signed for what now looks like a bargain of £22m.

He’s been game-changing in the middle and he’s been recognised by some of the most influential pundits in the game, along with his international manager Gareth Southgate.

Southgate has recently named three reasons that Wharton is in the squad along with explaining the one thing he loves about the 20-year-old midfielder.

A big move this summer would be disappointing from a Palace point of view as we’d have loved to see Wharton for another year or two, tearing it up at Selhurst Park.

But a move to the Bavarian giants might just be too good to refuse given they are among the world’s biggest clubs.
