Aston Villa could be poised to lose one popular player within Unai Emery’s squad this summer as the figure wants to leave.
The summer transfer window is set to be an interesting time for Aston Villa, who will be eager to strengthen the squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
After securing Champions League football, Unai Emery will want to see further progression from his side although Villa’s PSR concerns may cause a rift in the club’s transfer plans.
It’s now understood that Villa will be in a sell-to-buy situation this summer, with several players now linked to a possible exit.
One of those players is Jhon Duran, who has now made his transfer stance clear amid interest.

Jhon Duran wants to leave Aston Villa amid interest from Chelsea
In Sunday’s edition of the Daily Mirror [09/06/24 – page 72], it’s understood that Duran wants to leave Villa this summer.
Journalist Ryan Taylor detailed that the Colombian has received interest from Chelsea and also Bologna and has ‘told his agent to sort out’ a possible move.
It’s speculated that the striker ‘wants the move’ to Chelsea, who showed interest in Duran in January.
While Duran is a valued member of Emery’s squad, posing as the ideal alternative to Ollie Watkins, it’s thought that the 20-year-old now wants to depart to step away from being second choice.
Villa’s PSR concerns could see an exit for Duran develop although, the Midlands club would require a replacement as their options at centre-forward are running thin.

Signed for £18m from MLS side Chicago Fire in 2023, Villa captured one of the most exciting young talents in the Colombia international.
It’s been difficult for the 20-year-old at Villa as the chances of securing regular game time are incredibly slim due to the form of Watkins during Emery’s reign.

That being said, the striker has also not made it easy for himself, being at the centre of some social media dramas after being linked with a move away in January.
From deleting photos that associate him with Villa, to consistently liking tweets relating to Chelsea, the Villans may face a difficult scenario in retaining Duran if the Blues’ interest develops.
Emery dubbed Duran ‘special’ last season for his impact when called upon; however, the Spaniard will now have the crucial decision to make as to whether to cut ties with the forward.
