"What will the other players think": National media slam player after he chooses to join Nottingham Forest

National media outlet CNN have now reacted badly after a player chose to join Nottingham Forest.

It’s not every day that a bit of recruitment at the City Ground dominates headlines in Brazil – although that is exactly what has now happened as the Garibaldi close in on a South American goalkeeper.

So, what is the situation? Let’s take a look…

CNN criticise Carlos Miguel after he chooses to join Nottingham Forest

Benjamin Back – Anchorman of CNN in Brazil – has now hit out at Corinthians No.22 Carlos Miguel after he chose to leave the Brazilian giants in favour of joining Nottingham Forest.

There is fury within Corinthians as the 25-year-old prepares to leave for the City Ground, not long after club legend Cassio was sold to Cruzeiro in order for the Nottingham Forest target to take the No.1 spot.

Speaking live on CNN, Back said: “To hell with this guy. Go to hell.

“Corinthians has to react and show in some way to the players who are at Corinthians (and say) ‘look, Corinthians continues, Carlos Miguel has left, a hug for him to be happy there’.

“Otherwise, if Corinthians is like, ‘ah, Carlos Miguel, play here for another month’ – what will the other players think?”

Nottingham Forest are believed to be triggering the goalkeeper’s €4m (£3m) release clause, or else Corinthians would have surely blocked the move.

Miguel can still choose to ignore Nottingham Forest despite the release clause being activated, although it sounds as if he has already decided to move to the City Ground.

Odysseas Vlachodimos could soon depart when deal is finalised

When Miguel officially becomes a Nottingham Forest player, Odysseas Vlachodimos could leave the City Ground.

A story from The Athletic recently claimed that the Greece international is very frustrated at Nottingham Forest and is eager to leave this summer – with Nottingham Forest putting a £4.5m price tag on his head.

Most Premier League sides have three goalkeeping options in their respective squads, so barring any shock developments, we would expect Nuno Espirito Santo to begin the 2024/25 campaign with Matz Sels, Matt Turner and Miguel to choose from.
