Report: Nottingham Forest set to offload £10m player who’s never even played for them

Nottingham Forest are now set to offload one of their players this summer as he still awaits his first appearance for the club.

An interesting few weeks awaits Forest with the club needing to offload players before 30 June’s PSR deadline.

Forest are one of the clubs who are going to have to bring in some cash over June by selling players to avoid any further penalties.

Nuno Espirito Santo will be keen to keep on to as many of their top players as possible over the coming weeks despite being able to churn a healthy profit on some.

This could leave Forest in a position where they need to offload more players to bring in the funds they need instead of selling one big-money player.

And it seems as if there is one player who could leave the City Ground this summer with interest growing in his signature.

Forest outcast could be offloaded this summer

Omar Richards is a player who joined Forest back in 2022 from Bayern Munich but has struggled to really make a name for himself at Forest.

Despite having joined from one of the biggest clubs in world football, Richards is still yet to kick a ball at the City Ground.

He joined Forest’s sister club, Olympiacos, last summer on a season-long loan and it seems they’re keen to bring him back.

According to The Athletic, Olympiacos are keen to bring Richards back to the club this summer with a deal expected to be concluded easily.

It is not specified whether a potential deal between the sister clubs is on another loan basis or permanent, but it seems they’re keen to keep him around for next season.

Richards only played 15 times for the Greek side last season, however, he has done enough to warrant their interest in him for at least another campaign.

What Bayern Munich said about Omar Richards in 2022

Richards played 17 times for Bayern Munich before making the move over to the City Ground in 2022 for a fee believed to be in the region of £10m.

His time at Forest clearly has not panned out the way either party would have hoped for, but he did arrive two years ago with some big praise from his former club.

Bayern director Hasan Salihamidzic had some big words to say about Richards after he made the return to his homeland.

“It was Omar’s wish that we allow him to join Nottingham Forest,” he said.

“He sees the opportunity to become a first-team regular at a Premier League club in his home country.

“Forest are getting a very good player and a lovely guy, who will forge ahead. We wish him all the best.”
