Report: Chelsea could now offer 'tremendous' player a new contract amid interest from Premier League clubs

Chelsea could offer a new contract to one of their star players this summer.

Several members of Enzo Maresca‘s squad are being linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge.

For example, Conor Gallagher is thought to be attracting interest from Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur, while Levi Colwill is believed to be a target for Bayern Munich.

Both men were important players for Maresca’s predecessor Mauricio Pochettino last season.

Gallagher made 50 appearances in all competitions, while Colwill made 32.

Chelsea may opt against selling player this summer

Chelsea‘s stance on one of their players looks to be shifting.

According to The Guardian, while Chelsea have been trying to offload Gallagher, they could end up keeping the midfielder and handing him a new deal instead.

That would come as a blow to Villa and Tottenham, who both want Gallagher, the same outlet claims.

The 24-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Stamford Bridge.

If Chelsea cannot agree a new one with him, then they probably are going to have to sell their academy graduate this summer.

Could Conor Gallagher be involved in a swap deal for Jhon Duran?

While Villa are interested in Gallagher, Chelsea look to be keen on their striker Jhon Duran.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Duran is on the Blues’ shortlist and would love to join the club.

It gives Villa the opportunity to include Duran in a potential deal for Gallagher to bring the Englishman’s price tag down, though they are unlikely to be successful.

Gallagher is unlikely to agree to being part of such a deal, another report from The Guardian has claimed.

If Villa are going to sign the England international, who Gareth Southgate has praised in the past for having “tremendous drive”, then they are going to have to pay straight cash it seems. And that is only if Chelsea are still prepared to let him go.
