Anthony Gordon now admits he would love £65m Crystal Palace player to sign for Newcastle

Crystal Palace stars continue to be linked with transfer switches this summer, with many players catching the eye.

A strong end to the previous season for Crystal Palace has led to plenty of interest in a few stars from the squad.

Oliver Glasner helped transform the Eagles from relegation-threatened to a top-half team by the end of the campaign.

That’s all while the Crystal Palace boss implemented a style of play that had the Selhurst Park faithful off their seats.

That impressive form and style have led to plenty of hopes surrounding what Palace can achieve next season, however, that may depend on which players stay at the club.

Michael Olise has been linked with a move to Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Newcastle United, while Eberechi Eze has also been rumoured with a switch to Tottenham.

There’s also Marc Guehi, who has attracted interest from teams such as Manchester United, Tottenham, Liverpool and more.

Anthony Gordon on Marc Guehi to Newcastle transfer

Newcastle star Anthony Gordon was asked about Guehi’s potential links with a move to Newcastle United over the summer transfer window.

The pair have been part of the England camp at Euro 2024, with hopes of guiding the Three Lions to a first trophy in 58 years.

With Guehi’s impressive performance for England against Serbia, discussions surrounding a transfer have only ramped up.

When asked about his international teammate, Gordon told talkSPORT: “I haven’t actually seen the Newcastle links, I’m not lying to you.

“But it goes without saying I would absolutely love him to come because I think he’s a top player and he would make us a better team.”

Gordon also had time to praise Guehi for his performances, stating: “He’s top, he’s such a good player and I was glad the nation got to see him shine on that stage because he’s such a lovely guy and he deserves what’s coming to him.

“I thought he was unbelievable in that game [against Serbia] considering you know, his height compared to the strikers they had on.

“He won every header, he was aggressive, intercepting loads and his main strength is his composure on the ball.

“He’s like a midfielder, so him and [John] Stones at the back is a great partnership to control a game.”

It comes as little shock to those who watch Guehi week in and week out that he is gaining plaudits for his performances.

Whether that leads to a move this summer remains to be seen, though there are plenty of questions surrounding his future that need to be answered soon.

Marc Guehi’s Crystal Palace future

The rumours surrounding Guehi and a potential exit don’t appear to be going away any time soon, which will lead to a decision soon.

The 23-year-old has just two years remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park, which will no doubt see his value decrease once he enters the final 12 months of the deal.

It means the chance to either offer an extension or look to maximise value with a sale, while reports claim that £65million is the current transfer price set.

Whether that leads to a sale or not is still in the air, however, for now, it’s time to enjoy the performances a Crystal Palace star is displaying on the international stage.
