'Been a pleasure': Ian Wright sends 11-word message to Danny Rohl ahead of his Sheffield Wednesday return

Danny Rohl is set to return to Sheffield Wednesday ahead of pre-season training after his stint at Euro 2024.

The German boss followed up his Championship survival with a trip to the Euro tournament.

Rohl was named as one of ITV’s pundits for the competition in Germany, covering five games in the opening week.

The 35-year-old made his first appearance ahead of Belgium v Slovakia on Monday, before covering Croatia v Albania, Slovenia v Serbia, Poland v Austria and Turkey v Portugal.

His time live on air came to an end last night, following Portugal’s 3-0 win in Dortmund.

Ahead of the clash, Rohl took to Instagram to thank his colleagues and supporters for a ‘fabulous’ week.

He wrote: “One more game and my fabulous week at ITV Sport is over. Thank you very much for the warm welcome. It was a pleasure to meet you and to be part of Euro 2024. I’m looking forward to my last game with you.”

Rohl shared a photo of himself in the ITV studio alongside Joleon Lescott, Karen Carney, Christina Unkel and Laura Woods, to which Ian Wright responded.

The former Arsenal striker has worked with Rohl regularly this week, with the pair earning the appreciation of supporters on social media when they joked about the weather in Sheffield.

Ahead of his final match, Wright replied: “Been a pleasure Danny. All for the best for the season ahead.”

Rohl will now return to Yorkshire ahead of pre-season testing on the 28th June, before Sheffield Wednesday head to St George’s Park for a summer training camp, followed by another camp back in Germany.

The Owls boss will likely have gained some more fans from his insight on the TV, while there is no doubt that a number of clubs will have been keeping tabs on him.

For now though, Rohl clearly isn’t intending on going anywhere and has instead been able to pick up some new experiences and freshen up before going straight back into coaching.

His love for football is very clear though, and his tactical awareness was made very obvious on ITV, showing just how good of a manager Wednesday have on their hands.
