West Ham now readying bid to sign ‘outstanding’ player, Julen Lopetegui wants him - Fabrizio Romano

West Ham United are attempting to land their second signing since former Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui’s arrival.

The Spaniard has replaced David Moyes at the London Stadium and there is plenty of work to be done this summer.

Talented Brazilian winger Luis Guilherme has already been snapped up by West Ham but defensive areas will also be a priority for Lopetegui.

Kurt Zouma has been linked with a summer exit while Nayef Aguerd is attracting interest from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid. Should either player depart it would leave Lopetegui short of options at centre-back.

And according to Fabrizio Romano, West Ham are ‘pushing’ to bring in a new centre-back who’s wanted by Lopetegui.

West Ham readying Max Kilman bid

It’s no secret that West Ham are keen on Max Kilman after Lopetegui worked with the central defender at Wolves.

The Hammers face competition for his signature with Manchester United and Newcastle also keen.

But Romano claims the Hammers are ready to press ahead with their attempts to land the defender by launching another bid.

He wrote: “West Ham are still pushing for Max Kilman, new proposal expected to be sent soon.

“Second proposal also included one player as part of the deal but Wolves rejected again. Julen Lopetegui wants Kilman, talks continue.”

Kilman could replace Aguerd

With Aguerd’s future at West Ham currently up in the air, Kilman would represent an excellent replacement for the Moroccan.

Kilman has been lauded as an ‘outstanding’ centre-back and has been ever-present for Wolves over the past couple of years.

During the past two seasons, the 27-year-old has missed just one Premier League game.

The Englishman would also be familiar with Lopetegui’s demands and due to his wealth of experience in the Premier League, he would likely hit the ground running in east London.
