Tottenham informed of £25m asking price for defender who fears nothing after Aston Villa lodge bid

Tottenham Hotspur will be looking for backup additions this summer to bolster Ange Postecoglou’s side for the upcoming campaign.

A busy season awaits Tottenham having qualified for the updated Europa League format which will include more group stage games.

To compete on all fronts Ange Postecoglou is going to need an upgraded squad filled with quality in depth.

Last season saw Spurs exit both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup on a whimper after failing to impress in either cup competition.

Players have already left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer as Daniel Levy sanctions a clearout of Postecoglou’s unwanted players.

But it seems as if Spurs are already eyeing a potential replacement for a player who could also be headed for the exit doors of Hotspur Way over the coming weeks.

Tottenham informed of £25m price tag for summer target

One of the main issues Postecoglou had when it came to his squad depth last season was at right-back with Pedro Porro playing the lion’s share of football from the starting XI.

It was only injuries which kept Porro out of Postecoglou’s starting XI with Emerson Royal filling in for him when unavailable.

However, there were serious question marks over some of the displays put in by the Brazilian right-back over the course of the 2023/24 campaign.

According to Firenze Viola, Tottenham have been made aware of the €30m (£25m) asking price for right-back Michael Kayode.

Aston Villa are said to have tabled a bid worth half of that figure on the table for the defender with Arsenal also showing an interest in the player.

Fiorentina will, however, stand strong in their valuation of the defender and will demand no less than £25m.

After all, this is a player who Vincenzo Italiano claimed ‘fears nothing‘ at the age of just 19.

Tottenham may need cover for Emerson Royal

Despite Emerson not exactly lighting it up under Postecoglou, the right-back has been subject of interest from AC Milan.

And it is believed Levy is ready to accept a potential offer from Milan for Emerson as Spurs look to move him on this summer.

With the Brazilian’s possible exit inbound, Spurs not only require a new right-back to improve the quality of the squad but also to fill in for the departing Emerson.

Given Porro has nailed down the starting spot at right-back, it will be interesting which player is keen to take him on for the position.
