German giants register interest in 28-year-old Tottenham midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly willing to offload Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer, with Borussia Dortmund said to be interested.

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be open to selling a number of first-team players this summer to raise funds for the transfer window.

The Telegraph reported back in May that Ange Postecoglou was willing to let a number of players go as he looks to freshen up his squad, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg said to be one of those surplus to requirements.

Fresh from a man of the match display against England at the Euros, The Dane’s Euros performances will be doing his transfer chances no harm, with the likes of Atletico Madrid and Fenerbahce interested in Hojbjerg.

They are not the only sides keeping tabs on the midfielder though, with Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund also interested- according to BILD.

Nuri Sahin is said to be keen on bolstering his midfield options this summer following the struggles of Emre Can and Salih Ozcan this season.

Hojbjerg himself struggled last season, only making ten starts, with manager Ange Postecoglou preferring the likes of Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur.

The Dane’s extensive Bundesliga experience while at Bayern Munich paired with the fact he has less than a year left on his deal means Hojbjerg could be a very cheap and viable option for the German side.

Tottenham’s desire to bring in a new midfielder has been well documented this summer with Chelsea’s Connor Gallagher strongly linked to Spurs. Expected to cost around £50 million, a midfield sale like Hojbjerg could raise the funds needed and path the way for Spurs to go all in on Gallagher.

Hojbjerg’s potential sale could also raise vital funds in their pursuit of Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, who is valued at around £60 million.
